ABOUT THE ROZETA BELLY DANCERS

The Rozeta Belly Dancers is a renowned group of professional performers. Named after Rozeta Ahalyea, a renowned performer of national and international fame having danced both in Australia and throughout the world. As well as performing Rozeta has also taught many other teachers of Belly Dance throughout Australia. Its principal, Cleopatra, now runs the Rozeta Belly Dancers. Based on the Gold Coast, this professional band of performers under the guidance and tuition of Cleopatra and the renown Rozeta Ahalyea continues to provide beautiful dancers and wonderful entertaining shows in the traditional Rozeta style of tradition Middle Eastern Belly Dance.

DANCING STYLE

The dance style is dance orientale with predominantly Egyptian influence. Further the influences of Belly Dance from countries and peoples in the Middle East and its various dance styles have been studied and incorporated through out the dancer's performance. The dance style is influenced by Belly Dance from Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, the Bedouins and Egypt. Further, with the international integration of other Eastern music such as Indian and African, the dancers have further influence in the traditional belly dance style, which makes it even more exciting.

HISTORY OF THE ROZETA BELLY DANCERS

Rozeta, the originator and principal of The Rozeta Belly Dancers is of Greek descent. She trained to Belly Dance mainly in Beirut where her dance style was further inspired by the famous Egyptian dancer, Zail Zaki and the famous musician and composer, Omar Horseshied whom she was to later travel and perform with throughout Australia on his last Australian tour.

From Beirut Rozeta then went on to dance and teach across the world. She and her dancers were often commissioned for special shows. They were commissioned to The Hilton Hotel in Hong Kong running over many months, for a TV show in London with Tom Jones and Cliff Richards, many times at the City Town Hall in Sydney with top Egyptian musicians and stars to name a few and for many years at various clubs and functions in Sydney amongst locals and venues for Middle Eastern patrons.

VENUES

The Rozeta Belly Dancers have been based on the Gold Coast for fifteen years now. Their performances are booked at many venues on the Gold Coast, in Brisbane, as far North as the Sunshine Coast and South over the border into Northern NSW. Our venues for dance performance are wide and varied from weddings, cultural events, fund raisers, birthday parties and corporate events performed in clubs, private venues, restaurants and other such as the Hyatt Hotels, The Marriott, Gold Coast International, Sheraton Mirage, Movie World, Dream World to name a few, dancing to small groups of six or so people to crowds of hundreds.
